Solving Systems of Equations in Two Variables

September 19, 2014 -- In Middle School, students are presented with equations containing more than one variable. For example, x + y = 5 is a rule that shows how the two variables x and y are related to each other (in mathematics we call equations with two variables relations). How many solutions for x and y make the equation x + y = 5 true?
