A MESSAGE TO OUR READERS:

Few people are aware that every year more children in Canada die from preventable injuries than all childhood diseases combined and thousands more are seriously injured, sometimes for life.

The Children’s Safety Association of Canada believes that one of the most effective ways of bringing about positive change is through knowledge of children’s safety issues. Our onus is to reduce the number of accidents by raising community awareness with proactive information programs.

We offer a free information service to anyone who calls our toll-free hotline or accesses our web site. We mail a free Safety Pack to every caller. Each pack contains our 32-page reference manual, scalding prevention stickers, an identification/print kit and a window blind safety kit. The latter kit features breakaway tassels, cord stops and a cleat for each blind.

In pursuing our goal of getting as much information to as many caregivers as possible, we also send out thousands of these packs to community centres, crisis centres, etc. - any organization that helps parents of young children. We urge you to help us reach this goal by making organizations in your community aware of our safety programs and by encouraging family, friends and caregivers to contact us.
