SAY "NO"
TO WALKERS

Doctors strongly advise that walkers never be used.

Children using walkers have had many injuries, some of them fatal. Walkers are dangerous because they give babies more mobility and speed than they are ready to handle. They grab and pull things that would otherwise be out of reach. Walkers don’t help children’s development and may actually discourage the use of certain muscles.

A voluntary ban on walkers issued a decade ago by Health Canada, is still very much in effect. Although the product is not available at major retailers, they are still sold on street corners , in flea markets, in classified ads and on the Web.

HANDS-FREE
BABY FEEDERS
BANNED

Advertised in newspapers and available on the Web, the hands-free baby feeder is an adjustable apparatus that can be secured to a crib, stroller, etc and enables a baby to self-feed.

This product has been banned for some time by Health Canada because of the increased choking possibilities. Doctors and nurses strongly advise not using this product. Feeding is an ideal time for you and the baby to relate. The best way to bottle feed a baby is to sit comfortably with the baby in your arms, looking at the baby face to face and talking gently and soothingly.

k n o w ?

Preventable injuries cost Canadians approximately 8.7 billion dollars a year.

Preventable injuries accounted for almost 70% of injury-related deaths.

Every year, more Canadian children die from preventable injuries than from all childhood diseases combined.

Safety is born of knowledge, and knowledge is achieved though information.
